Lower A arm rivet hole size question.

What is the original factory hole size produced in the lower A arms?

Also was the hole size in the A arm and in the ball joint the same?

My notes list a rivet diameter of 5/16 (.312) and a hole size of 11/32 (.343)?

    Thank you,
    Ralph

Yes, for the LOWERS, the PRODUCTION and SERVICE ball joints used the same size attaching hardware and, thus, the holes in the a-arm were the same. The only difference was the PRODUCTION configuration used 5/16" rivets and the SERVICE configuration used 5/16" bolts.

For the UPPERS it was different. The PRODUCTION configuration used 1/4" rivets and 9/32" holes. The SERVICE configuration used 5/16" bolts and 11/32" holes. So, the upper SERVICE ball joints require the a-arm holes to be enlarged to 11/32" (although 21/64" would probably do).

Thank you Joe and Tracy, I'm getting ready to send my A arms out to be restored (not sure where yet), and the holes in the lowers are measuring around .340 and the uppers are measuring around .312. They currently have "bolt on" ball joints and was concerned that the .340 holes in the lowers were out of specification (too large) for the riveting process? When I reviewed my notes I noticed that the factory originally produced the lower A arm holes to .343 which at .340 then I would be fine; so, I wanted to verify my notes were accurate.
