    1960 Courtesy Light

I noticed on Saturday when I closed the driver side door, the courtesy light remained on. I assumed that the headlight switch knob was turned to the left in the position that makes the courtesy light stay on, but that was not the case. Both doors were completely closed and the door switches appear to be functioning properly.

Is this a problem with the headlight switch? or one of the door switches?

This has never happened in the 25 years I have owned the car.

Joe, my guess is if the light was off before you got out of the car the problem is in one of the door switches. To confirm, unscrew the door jamb switch (starting with drivers side) and remove the wires and see if the light goes out, repeat for passenger side if necessary. If that does not do it, move on to the headlight switch. Be careful not to let the wires fall in the hole or you will have to fish them back out. Good luck , Dan

The problem is in the light switch. I moved the switch knob over to the right and the light went out; wiggled the switch under the dash and the light came on and off. I haven't check for loose wiring, but suspect the original light switch needs to be replaced. I have a new repro light switch ready to go. I reworked the original light switch last year and it worked flawlessly until a week ago.
