    FI Air filter element

Was the original fuel injection air filter on a 57' all blue or was the element itself beige with blue rubber on the outside?

Harold, Your description is pretty close. The paper color is not really a typical beige. Sorta like a dirty gray. Some one will come on and clarify this. John

i have two of the original blue ended 57 corvette air cleaner elements , one on each of our 57 fi corvettes, and an original on our 57 pass car fi. all three have blue ends but i'd describe the elements as being dirty beige in color. l need to add thaT the 57 pass car fi element is about an inch longer than its corvette brother. sorry i can't recall the ac # embossed on the pass car element but its different that that of the 57 corvette element. mike

AC57 - IIRC the element was an off white/beige color and was lightly oiled, which caused the element over time to look as Mike said a "dirty beige".

Mike, since you raised the issue about the passenger car air filter, I believe the element number is A61C. At least that is the number on the two NOS filters I have for my '57 fuelie Nomad. The ends are black rubber with the numbers on one end only. I can post pictures if anybody on this forum is interested.

perry: i have an original ac air cleaner element on my 57 250 hp 210 post. its got blue ends on it. i believe the black rubber ends( be they the short corvette or the longer pass car fi element) showed up on over the counter elements starting in about 1959. i bought my pass car bluer element at carlisle years ago, still in the old GM box, for 5 bucks. i also had a used pass car FI blue end element that i peddled at carlise the following year. the pass car blue elements seem to be more common at swap meets than the shorter corvette blue end elements. had a friend in texas sell his NOS blue end 57 corvette element for 10K. i watched the transaction take place. regards, mike

AC61C is the correct number for passenger car FI filter elements and like Mike said the original ones were also Julio blue. IIRC I have a "black" AC56C and the box is dated 1960.
