C2 Spare Tire Lock Boot - NOS versus Reproduction

Is there an easy way to tell a reproduction spare tire lock boot from an NOS one? There are a few listed as NOS on Ebay but they all are in the $32+ range and a reproduction is like $9.

I know the lock key and boot only total 5 points (originality and condition), but I wouldn't mine getting an NOS one if I knew for sure it was an NOS one

    Thanks,

    Don

    Don,

Remember that NOS only implies new, but old stock. It's doesn't mean that you can't still buy new, from new stock. GM still sells the same boot for something like $13 list. I don't have the part number memorized, but I'm sure someone on the DB can give it to you. Some of the ones currently being sold on e-bay are brand spanking new GM boots (you can tell from the GM package design) that are marked up by a factor of 3 or 4 and advertised with the ever-tempting NOS descriptor.

The part number is GM #3841701 and it's still available from GM for about 13 bucks, GM list.
