This week I am going to inspect a '68 L71 Convertible. The owner of the car will be supplying me with the trim/paint code in the next day. Can anyone tell me the easiest and quickest way to get a chip that would be color matched to the code so I could compare the accuracy of the color that is on the car. I believe the car is Corvette Bronze which can be difficult to get right and therefore affect the value of the car. Thanks in advance for your consideration, Steve

Re: 1968 Paint Chips to match Paint Codes
The only real accurate chips are the test panels that the various paint manufacturers furnished during the model run. They were about 4"x5" in size. I HAD ((none now) many of those over the years and do not remember ever having one that color. The passing chip charts that you purchase today are ink on paper, will get you in the color family, but not usually the correct color.Dick Whittington- Top

I have also been told not to trust this paint chip book NCRS sells, even though it has actual paint chips, not ink on paper. But I have found the colors to be pretty good matches, IMO.
National Corvette Restorers Society! Corvette Paint Color Chips 1963-1972 - By long-time NCRS member Charles Cotropia. This handy booklet has 84 individual exterior color chips, exterior paint codes, color stats, manufacturer's paint codes (refinishing codes), and interior trim codes for all 1963-1972 Corvettes. Re: 1968 Paint Chips to match Paint Codes
I have a 68 GM DuPont paint chip book with painted chips not printed. Not sure if this pic captures it but the paint chip is spot on right down to the small metallic flake size. I see these books from time to time @ flee markets, ebay...paint chip 5.jpg paint chip 2.jpgpaint chip 3.jpg- Top
