Re: Fuel Pump Restoration
I've seen the rebuilt units for sale from various vendors but I decided I just wasn't comfortable driving around with a recrimped rebuild. I used a brand new AC Delco service pump with the small AC letters cast in the side. I'm pretty sure the current AC-Delco pump has no letters on it now....it may be an Airtex pump.- Top

Re: Fuel Pump Restoration
Terry,I had a friends who found an NOS 40433 fuel pump in the box. He went to install it (gently) and as soon as he tightened the fuel pump bolts down just a little - the ear cracked on the fuel pump. Porosity of the metal. He paid a TON for it too. That's life. From a money and safety standpoint I am not sure it's worth the points...but your call...ARA- Top

Re: Fuel Pump Restoration
You can purchase the Airtex that's the same configuration as the 40433 so the lines will attach the same.
I have a rebuilt original 40433 on my 67 and it's fine but I check it all the time. You need to check all fuel pumps even the screw together type. There is a note in the 1963 shop manual stating to check the screws to make sure they are tight.
Be careful with these advertized for sale 40433 pumps, many times the rebuilder will use a body from a 40503 replacement AC pump with the 40433 base, the #'s are sanded flat then restamped. You can tell by the vent holes as they are in different locations.
