I took the exhaust off my 66 BB some time ago and have been working on a trans/clutch rebuild, etc. I am now ready to install a complete new dual exhaust system ( using front pipe, intermediate pipe and a Magnaflow muffler) . I cant remember if it is easier to install first the front exhaust pipe, then the intermediate pipe and finally the muffler in that order, or the reverse installation.Any thoughts on the issue??

Re: C 2 Exhaust System....
Tim is correct. In addition, have done both my '67 and '68 small block exhaust systems, and on each, one rear pipe needed to be trimmed to make the exhaust tips fall into place. I don't remember now where I got the systems (one of the major Corvette suppliers), but no amount of pushing, pulling, and refitting helped. I remember cutting 3/4" off of one pipe (on the '68) and everything fell into place.- Top

Re: C 2 Exhaust System....
Yes, the system I took off had the muffler welded to the intermediate pipe. The replacement system (using Magnaflows) when laid on the floor next to the previous system seems to be about 1 in. longer overall, so I may have to trim it after I do an initial installation. Thanks to all for the good information.- Top
