    Front Sway Bar

There was a post a short while back about the differences in the front sway bar sizes (Joe's chart) 3/4 SB 3831971, 7/8 BB 3871318 and 15/16 3831972 for the F41. I have a question about the parts manuals (7.241) calling for 65-69 BB use of the 3831971 (or the smaller bar) and then using the 3871318 larger bar for both the 65 396 exc HD and then the 66 & 67 BB's without the SP Perf Susp HD. Then also the 68 and 69 AIMs don't reference anything other than the basic 3831971 and then the heavy duty F41 using the 3831972s. Could it be that the 68 and 69 BB did use the smaller bar? JM would be wrong then. In any case it is interesting that they call for that smaller bar for 65 to 69 BB replacement.
    Got anything on this Joe?

While at it, anyone know the difference in the rear stab bar from 68 and 69, 3923676 and 3967713?

I'm familiar with what you're referring to. The answer is very simple: the P&A Catalogs are incorrect on the front bar applications.

Once-upon-a-time I was told that the 1968-only rear bar was 7/16" OD whereas the 1969+ was 9/16". However, every 1968 bar I've ever seen has been 9/16". I could not discern any difference from the 1969+ bar. There must be some difference but I know not what it is.

By the way, the 1965-67 rear bars are different than the 1968+. The long horizontal section on 1965-67 is, basically, straight. The 1968+ have offsets.

Thanks for the info. You would think they wouldn't make a mistake like that but it happens.

It's not frequent but there are errors in the P&A catalogs. However, they're about 99.9% accurate so it's hard to say they should do better than that.
