    1973 Corvette Turn Signal Flashers

'73 Corvette gurus - I'm looking for information on which OEM turn signal flashers were used in 1973 Corvettes & if the 1973 turn signal flashers had a "DOT" designation One example mentioned is the blue plastic Tung-Sol 224 turn signal flasher. Other turn signal flashers examples available in that time period & could have been used are the Signal-Stat 144, LittelFuse 224, &/or Ideal 224. Pete

Pete, My one owner(till I got it) 23,000 mile April 73 car has a blue 224 DOT Tung sol. My other 73 has a Ideal Heavy Duty 536. I don't recall changing it but it has been a lot of years. I wouldn't think GM would have put a heavy duty in it??? opinions welcomed!!

The #536 was used for the hazard flashers. Never have seen a #536 used for a turn signal in an original car.

Dave, My early car that has this 536 for the signal flasher also has a 536 for the hazard flashers.

Russ, Dave is correct, the 536 flasher is a H/D and flashes all front and rear lamps which is why it uses a H /D flasher, The 224 flasher only flashes one side at a time, hence the 224 is a lighter duty. As far as I can remember GM has always used a similar configuration through the years, as the bulbs got brighter the flasher no.s changed.

            Russ,
i haven,t judged 1973 cars at all but lots of 68/72 cars. That vintage virtually all had #224 blue plastic turn signal flashers. 73 could be different but as Ed explained I would be surprised.

I am not in disagreement gentlemen but would like input as to what other 73-74 owners have in their cars for both flashers.
