Am restoring a BB 66 to NCRS standards, hope to achieve Top Flight. My question, if I purchase a set of gold line bias ply tires from, say Coker Tires, do I lose points for them. Mike

Re: tires
Except the nylon ones that flat spot terribly if left to sit very long.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: tires
I hasten to add I have no idea if the original 1966 tires were nylon cord or something else, but I can assure you the above applies to the original Nylon Cord C3 tires.Terry- Top

Re: tires
I believe the '66s included a nylon variety, back in '64 there was one (black walls), but the other was rayon (white walls). Of course I had many nylon tires back in the day, and I remember no flat spotting. Then my wife reminded me I only had one car then, and it would sit, at most, just overnight, and that is not long enough to develop a heavy flat spot. Unlike today when they sit for a few weeks or more before you drive them. The nylon Kelseys do flat spot and are not nearly as good driving tires as the polyester varieties. But, indeed, the nylon is the correct tire. I just don't have them for anything but judging.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: tires
Just be sure that whatever you buy that they are correct not only for brand, but for the specific type for your car. I had my 67 judged at a regional meet and I lost, I believe 22 points, on tires. I had the correct Firestone brand, but not the right type.- Top
