Re: fuel pump installation help, connections, 1970 454
Rudy,
Sorry, I don't have pictures but the 1971 AIM details the feed and return lines on page L214 - 8 B3. I'm pretty sure they're the same both years. The outside line from the tank is the feed and the inside is the return. The feed hose crosses over the return hose and connects to the larger inlet on the pump. It's a bear to change, I found a thread here that suggested removing the wheel/tire and going in through the suspension opening which helped.
Good luck,

Re: fuel pump installation help, connections, 1970 454
Hi Phil
Thank you for the description. As I recognized, I do not have a 1970 AIM, and neither does my brother-in-law. I just ordered two.
Maybe someone could scan the page L214 8B3, you mentioned?
Thank you again- Top

Re: fuel pump installation help, connections, 1970 454
Hi Reudi,
I thought I'd mention that the supply and return hoses were originally formed into a gentle 'S' shape.
This was because the position of the steel lines, and the position of the pipes on the fuel pump, cause regular fuel line to kink slightly when making the connections, and close down the flow of fuel.
Your brother-in-law might want to consider ordering a set of the 'formed' hoses from one of the vendors.
If he's using a different pump with the pipes in a different location this may not be an issue at all.

Thanks Phil, but I have other reasons to have the 1970 AIM at work tomorrow, and I have Ruedi's email from him already. I am sure your efforts will help him in the mean time.Terry- Top

Re: fuel pump installation help, connections, 1970 454
I remember when that S shaped formed hose was available from GM. My 1970 LT1 which only has the supply hose originally came without the formed hose and had a kink. It would fall on its face around 5 to 6K until I put that formed hose on there.Hi Reudi,
