67 427 front AC bracket on intake

went to install the front AC compressor bracket on the intake in the AIM it calls for 2 bolts and 2 lock washers. in the new judging manual it says double ended intake bolts. beside that difference I got this end result. the bolt is at angle compared to the bracket. the bracket is the original GM one

that can not be right is it?

No, it's not right. The basic cause of what you see is that the bracket is not seating properly against the manifold. This could be caused by an improperly machined bracket or some irregularity on the intake manifold bracket seating area.

Joe thanks for that. But both intake and bracket is original to the car. What do you think I can do to fix this

Are you sure it was not like this from the factory? You might not have noticed it, but I'll bet it was. In any event, I'd remove the bracket and see if there is anything that's preventing the bracket from fully seating. If nothing has changed, then it has to have been the way it was all along. It's not right but it wouldn't have caused any problems. I'd also try loosening up the other bolts retaining the bracket and see if you can't slightly reposition the bracket to prevent this condition.

Joe unfortunately I did not take the car apart or I don't have pictures of this part before it was removed. This bracket is only held on by those two bolts. Thanks for the help
