I'm in the process of checking all the numbers on my restored but mostly "numbers matchings" L79 coupe. The starter has number 1108392 on it and I believe the correct should be 1107320. Does anyone know what starter I have on mine and when it goes out, best place to buy a 1107320.thanks

Your GM #1108392 starter (or at least the starter frame with the numbers on it) originally resided on a 1969-71 Buick with 400 or 430 CID engine. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: starter part number
Yes, GM #1107320 is the correct starter. If you're looking for a correctly configured, properly dated, and restored unit, John Pirkle is probably your best source. If you are assuming that you need an 1107320 in order to have a properly functioning starter, that is not correct. The one you have now is likely a properly functioning starter. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: starter part number
thanks, again, Joe. You're correct in stating that is should (and does) function properly. Just one of life's curiosities as to why someone would go to such lengths to restore a car and not install the correct starter. I'll keep John Pirkle's name handy when I replace this Buick starterLeif
