While digging thru my box of vintage flashers I came across the flasher pictured below which I found in a 1970 Chevelle back in the 1980's in a salvage yard. I bagged and tagged the flasher as from a 1970 Chevelle with "YV" (Oct. 1969) glass code. Unfortunately I did not record the body build date. The light blue painted flasher has the following stamped on it:
"224 FLASHER", "2 LAMP - 12 VOLTS", PAT. NO. 688273 MADE IN CANADA", "S.A.E. J590b", the encircled "ts" logo (for Tung-Sol), and a "429" date code (42nd week of 1969) as show in the 3rd photo.
The flasher was attached to the clip (see assembly manual) as it has the scratches on it. I assume that this it was an original factory installed flasher because of the date code. The part numbers for the flasher (attached to the clip) as shown in the 1970 Chevelle AIM (UPC 12, sheet B4) are 383638 and 3909545 and are the same parts numbers as shown in the 1970 Corvette AIM (UPC 12, sheet B3) as well as the 1970 Camaro AIM, UPC 12, sheet B7.
I assume that this flasher would be correct for a 1970 Corvette but it might be a bit too early for a 1970 Camaro (production started in Dec. 1969). I would appreciate any comments.
