    63 electrical connections questions

    Hello together

I am having a bit of trouble in finding out where some plugs are connected.

First (picture 334 + 340) found a plug with black/white wire hanging down in front of the wiper motor, I connected it then (picture 340), seems as this is a ground of the wiper motor, is this right? I already have the yellow/brown/blue plug attached to the wiper motor. It always worked as it should, washer pump works too, I was just curious about that ?ground wire(black/white hanging down)?

    Second question(picture 341)

There are some wires hanging down on the right side of the car, near the heater motor. There is a black/white plug too, is this also a ground? And if yes, where do I have to connect that one?

    Thank you in advance

Ruedi, It appears as though you have a extra wire there attached to the blower motor, I believe that wire may attach to the outer bolt on the starter and the black double wire attaches to a spade that should be attached to a retainer screw on the blower housing that appears to be missing. and there should also be a spade that is attached to the wiper housing for a ground wire attachment, In you second (middle) post it shows the attachment.

      Hello Edward

Wiper motor: found that the b/w cable had to be attached to a clip on the bottom of the housing(picture 2)--> problem solved

Regarding blower motor: As my car has AM/FM radio, I found that I am missing the special capacitor http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb....5Z50000050B~~~ which should be connected with the b/w cable.

I found those two pictures regarding the heater box on the forum:

You mention the other one goes to the starter motor, would someone have a picture of that, maybe?

      Thank you again

It appears that I am missing this little spade on the housing, will order one.

        Thank you

Ruedi, I have not master the posting of Pic.s But if your car does not have a ground on the outer bolt of the starter that is wire there should be a ground on 63. It will have a 3/8 "eyelet style connector, and the negative battery cable also attaches to this bolt. Yes you are missing the spade.

            Hello Edward

I do have a ground cable going down to the starter. The cable you see in my picture should be connected to this special capacitor, if I am not mistaken. The b/w cable will be connected to the spade, as you said.

Another thing I noticed was, that I had the horn wire router through the hole, but this should not be so, is this correct?(please see picture)

            Thank you

Ruedi, on my 63 there is only one horn wire that is routed over the radiator support and heads to the at the pass side horn, from there it tees off to the drivers horn, I am not sure about the other orange wire, it appears to be added on. Also the capacitor is only a tied in with the blowers orange colored wire. You seem to have a spare wire there.

                Re: 63 electrical connections quesions

OK, another question. I have made a red circle on the following picture. That one should run down to the starter ground, am I now correct? This really confuses me.

                Thank you.

Yes that is I believe is suppose to attach at the starter , if you do not have a wire at the outer bolt on the starter along with the battery cable ground that is where that wire should attach.

It's actually a brown and a black wire which ends in the plug which is connected to the horn relay. There's another single wire (black) which is connected with the horn.

Where or what does the brown wire attach to ?

the brown wire also goes in the plug which goes into the horn relay. Horn relay plug with brown and black wire. Sorry about the bad picture, there is not an orange cable, it is brown.

                        Thank you.

Okay I just took a look at the wiring to my 63, the brown wire does attach to the relay, but why does the brown wire head over the radiator support? in my 63 it only breaks out of the wire harness and hooks directly to the horn relay. And as far as the wire you have attached to the blower case, It appears that it to should head to outer starter bolt that attaches the starter to engine, this should be with same bolt that the battery ground cable attaches, This wire should be branching of the engine wire harness by the front of the heater box area, and ties in with the rest of the wiring that heads to the starter solenoid.

Just a few more photos of the wiring:

Does somebody have a picture of the wiring harness near the round hole, where a part of my cable is broken?

                            Thank you.

And a few more from the wiring harness.
