I have a 1959 car that I have owned since 1970. I put a set of 327 heads on it in the 70s. with spring Carlisle coming up I would like to look for the right set of heads. The original block was cast in mid June 1959. Not sure what the difference, other than the date cast, between a Tonawanda cast and Saginaw / flint cast head ? Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

I think you mean 3755550 or 3767465. The 3774692 was a 1960 cylinder head. I have no information that it was used for late 1959 although I could not rule it out.
My recollection is that there was a difference in the external machined finish of the heads between Flint manufactured and Tonawanda manufactured. I think on one or the other the "pyramid-shaped" casting symbol and underlying rectangular block on the ends were machined flat whereas the other was as-cast.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Flint castings are machined on the end; Tonawanda are rough cast. There should be no holes drilled in the end of the head for a Corvette.- Top
