Actually you must put the car in reverse "and" apply the parking brake or when you shut the car off if stays in accessory mode which will drain the battery. I am not sure but I believe it was 2005 only. (Manual trans)Regards

This sounds like a pretty severe engineering fault. Surely GM would have offered a fix for this defect no charge as part of warranty, no? But then again, guess they have always had problems like this in cars around that time frame they wouldn't fix, as in the current recalls.

There was a lot of trouble with the "dead battery syndrome" with the 05 Corvettes. Where even when all instructions were followed to shut down a standard shift car, the battery would at times still go dead on you. It was all over the web at the time. GM denied it and that was BS. The 2006 cars had no problem right out of the gate. I kept a battery tender on the car at all times when not in use but it was a real pain. Watch for that and enjoy you beautiful ride!
