Common courtesy at judging meets

Was at a chapter meet over the weekend. And the weather was not the greatest but the car turn out was great. But with the weather not being kind that meant the condition where the judging took place was just dirty. I being a chassis judge knew going to it it wasn't going to be a ideal day to be on my back. So I bought some cardboard to lie on and try to keep clean as much as I could. But all the mean while other judges and owners would walk all over mine and other judges clean area. I know this sounds silly and dumb but doesn't any one have any common curtsey to try and help stay clean.

At least they didn't step on you! I've been wedged under a car trying to read an engine casting date when the interior folk sat in the car!

Our weather was pretty miserable this weekend as well, but our interior digs were very, very nice.

You're right, the floor was pretty wet and dirty right where you were working!
It's pretty great that you were able to still do a good job for the owners of the cars you were judging!!!

Glad you guys had a great meet! Would like to know where in the judging guide it says a judge can sit in an owners Corvette. I have judged several times in NCRS meets and have yet to have a team leader allow judges to sit in an owners car, lay on the fenders or even touch an owners car without the owners knowledge or OK!
Is it not common courtesy for judges as well as owners and observers to keep their hands off owners Corvettes?
Doesn't this fall into the "Respect" category?

I did not mean to mislead - the "sitting" happened at a Judging Seminar. As you can see from my picture, our interior people were respectful during the judging meet.

In the Corvette Judges Reference Guide there's a section (14) on the Judges Meeting at a Judging Event..
Item 13 is about being cognizant of the care and caution required during judging. It includes " Try not to touch the car any more than is necessary to accomplish your task". and, "Interior teams should not sit in the car without permission" and, "Always ask the owner to operate the hood, trunk, latches , doors, windows, controls, etc., unless they have given you permission to do so".
Is this information/guidance still valid?

Keith,

Preferably, the owner should show the Judge that the seat release and seat movement works properly. If the owner tells the Judge to, then that's the only time a Judge should sit in a car. All other Interior Judging should be completed from kneeling next to the car. JMTCW,

I have found the best way to avoid such transgressions and conflicts is simply to avoid NCRS events.

Tom I enjoy doing this and look forward to keep doing it. I just wish people would respect others. we all do this for free and on our dime so you would think other people would care
