Re: Vintage Dayton Knock-Offs For A '62
Bill, while in another club I saw some nicely restored wires. The two best were Dayton and Wheel Repair Service in Mass. Both were very well done. While living in Richmond, IN I visited Dayton Wire Wheels and saw the restoration and new build processes. I also saw a perfect set of Daytons on a '77 Corvette that were restored by Dayton. They are both top notch restorers. Some motorcycle shops can/will rebuild wires. Good Luck and congratulations on the wires, Steve- Top

Re: Vintage Dayton Knock-Offs For A '62
Wow! Bill they came out great. Are those 72 spoke?
To do them, they had to disassemble each spoke, correct? Then individually plated, or did they replace with new. IIRC, the spoke nuts are Stainless Steel. I think they are on the wife's Jag wire wheels. Those are original (1972) Daytons also, 72 spoke.....48 inner, 24 outer.

Re: Vintage Dayton Knock-Offs For A '62
Hi Rich...yes, 72 spoke but now stainless rather than chrome. Dayton made them tubeless. And Dayton Srencil Works, the company that stamped the spinners for Dayton Wheel Products back in the day, used their original stamps to recreate the word and symbol impressions (left side, right side, and directional arrow) for the restoration of the spinners. Re: Vintage Dayton Knock-Offs For A '62
Bill, thanks for the update, my 1972 had the same style of Dayton wheels on it when I purchased the car from my neighbor (I have since replaced them with the correct rally wheels). The Dayton's are in similar condition to what yours were prior to you having them restored with some peeling chrome in some areas.
i may contact the wheel repair company you used to see how much it would cost to have them restored, I imagine it would be expensive and possibly not worth it to me because I think the C3's look better with the rally's.
thanks again for the update, here's a picture of mine at my neighbors house on the day I went to retrieve it and bring it home.

Bill, What's the imprint in the lower left ear? I see the "RIGHT" and "SIDE" on the other 2 but I can't make out the 3rd one.
Is it just a arrow?
