Re: Vintage Dayton Knock-Offs For A '62
Thanks Gary!
Bill, A silly question.....Is there any kind of failsafe, other than those spinners with their markings, to ensure the hubs are installed on the "correct" sides of the car? The Right side is reverse, or left-hand thread(CCW), the Left side is right-hand thread(CW).
As you know I'm sure, if they go on the wrong side, they will spin themselves off while driving. It happened to a Jaguar I know of after the guy restored his car. He put the front splined hubs(not bolted on, the actual bearing hub) on backwards. When he hit the brakes a spinner flew off, he lost a front wheel and wrecked the car!
Jaguar had a odd nomenclature for their spinners. "RIGHT(OFF) SIDE" and "LEFT(NEAR) SIDE". Unless you know about 1700's English Carriages and how they unloaded passengers, it's not clear what OFF and NEAR mean.
