Interior mods for 66 c2 convertible

New NCRS member about 2 months ago. I am. 6' 8" tall . Needless to say I find it difficult to get behind wheel, much less trying to shift. I am wondering about the following:The car has the teak steering wheel. Can I downsize or replace with a tilt & telescopic if avail?
Can the drivers seat be modified with a combination of the seat rail and reducing the padding in the seat?
Can the fiberglass be changed either behind the seat or the tunnel changed by the pedals?

I had the same problem with my 66, it even got worst when I restored the seats and put new springs and foam in. Before restoration I took the door pull off and this gave me enough room for my leg to clear the steering wheel to shift gears. When I restored the car I put in a Flaming River tilt column. It is a direct replacement and other than having a lever for the tilt you can't tell the difference. I tried sitting in a car with a telescopic column and it still didn't give me enough room. Flaming River sells the hub for the column so you can use your original steering wheel. It not totally original but it gives you plenty of room for your legs and it can be changed back if someone wants the car totally original. You can get t in chrome or primed steel and paint it.

      David,
I apologize for the delay in thanking you for reply and suggestion about getting the steering wheel change. I'll get in touch with the flaming river folks. Any idea on a new seat or a mod to pick up some more room?

I have a friend with a two top '66 L-79. Bill is 6'7" barefoot and 285, also barefoot. Before Flaming River existed he had his column shortened, I think about 4", and it worked for him. he did not need to do anything else. I would try Flaming River as Eric suggests. Steve
