    Torque Bolt Question

    I am replacing the exhaust system on my 66 427-450 car and am wondering what torque spec to use for the 3 manifold to exhaust pipe bolts ( 3 on either side of engine)?I cant seem to find it in any of my current information.

    Larry,
    Torque should be 13-17 Lbs-ft

      I always go back and re-torque after several starts then again in about 6 months - the heat can effect these fastners

        Well, not really the fasteners, but certainly the parts they're attaching...

          Yes, the heat and compression definitely affects the exhaust packings. However, there's a way around this-----use sintered iron rings instead of the packings. These are all I use. They're essentially "immortal" and pretty much eliminate the need for repeated re-torquing of the flange nuts.

          2" = GM #3731062

          2-1/2"= GM #3768711

          Are the above original for Corvette? Only if you have a 1975-81. But, they work very well for all earlier.

            Does anyone know if Fel-Pro# 60985 is sintered and is that item the 2" size?

              I believe it is sintered iron but I'm not 100% sure. It is for 2" exhaust.
