Re: 62 Engine and Transmisson install questions
Larry, I am not even sure of the 62 bell housing part no. this car was a basket case, the body was repainted and know is almost together other than the engine and transmission mounted in the car. he was given a couple of later engine assys. and a cast iron bell housing a Muncie transmission. he does have a aluminum housing part no. 383(last 3 digits). and rebuilt Borg warner T-10 from a 63. he does have a starter also, however I really don't recall which type he has. I think the 62 has a cast iron nose??New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 62 Engine and Transmisson install questions
Edward,
Correct '62 alum BH is cast #3779553.
'62 starter does have a cast iron snout and number stamped on starter should be 1107233 or possibly 1107242. The starters bolt horizontally into the bell housing whereas later model GM starters bolted directly up into the bottom of engine block.
