    T-Top To Body Molding Sealant

What sealing material would you recommend for T-Top Moldings To Body and Moldings to Windshield Frame.

I am looking at the AIM for my 1973 Coupe

One example calls for a sealing strip 3995061 under molding 3972307-8 on page C01 to C12 Sheet 9.

    Suggestions?

    Thank you

I agree also with Ed and Alan but there is 1 area that is different. That is the opening between the molding windshield upper reveal and the molding roof center support reveal and molding assembly windshield header corner. That sealer had a light gray to silver appearance. This area could be seen so to camouflage it the used a color that would blend into is surroundings. There has been previous discussions on this different sealer but I do not have a thread location for you yet.

As mentioned I used 3M strip caulking when I removed and replaced my t-top molding. Across the front between the windshield molding and the t-top molding I painted the new caulking black. This was done in 1990 on my 1970 and has held up very good.

Roger, I can tell you what I did for for 72 I used a little bit of silver paint on the windshield area chalk. The exterior judges that looked at my car at the regional in my area liked and commented on it. which surprised me they even looked at it.It is a very small detail. but nice to be noticed , Patrick Hulst commented windshield calking on this area in one of his prev. post, So this is what I did when my car was apart about 5 or so years ago.

Ed, the Mortite I linked to above is the correct color - no more painting needed.

Pat, I was only thinking of saving some money for Roger, to buy that much in bulk for such a small area that shows. most of the strip caulk is under the stainless panels any way. I suppose you just buy one product or the other. Any way how did you end up finding this product ?

Someone else mentioned it on here. I just knew how to look it up.
I think you can buy Mortite at Lowe's, etc

                        Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the area you're now talking about for the silver/gray colored sealer.
I use a product from the craft store ($3.00) and it seems to look quite like the original, and is holding up well.
                        Regards,
                        Alan

                            Hi Patrick,
I think we talked about this product a couple of years ago.
I put it on in 2011 when I was getting my car ready for Flight Judging and have been pleased with how hard it has become and how well it's holding up.
