    Interesting stuff! I'm always up for learning something new.

    Re-reading the judging guide there is a sentence on page 82 stating that 58 and 59 heavy duty brake cars used the 5 leaf rear spring, no liners, but all grooved........

      My '59 has stock 4-leaf grooved, but someone added a thick 5th leaf at some time. Actually raises the car a bit. I've been meaning to remove them......for the last 28 years.

      HD 5 leaf spring. Bottom leaf not grooved. Big riveted band clamps, open on top sitting above the top of the spring.
