Re: documentation validation
For each car produced there is an order number and ident number that is unique to the car. These numbers appear on the documents validated and the shipping reports. There is really no way to have the correct number without having the original docs. If the numbers on the docs match the shipping report the docs must be real. This is my understanding. Others can probably explain better.- Top

Re: documentation validation
Hi Mark--So are you saying that all the document validation service does is to verify that the subject documents that are presented for review are legitimate/real; and that the service does not actually verify the accuracy/validity of any of the stated information on the documents???Thanks,RobRob

Re: documentation validation
NCRS will compare any of your GM documents to the GM records contained in the Shipping Report and if verification can be achieved, will establish the authenticity of your factory documents. Unfortunately, the shipping report does not contain the vehicle options.NCRS Texas Chapter

Re: documentation validation
When an order was placed at a dealership it processed thorugh the central office where two very unique strings of numbers were assigned to the car, at some point a third set of numbers was assigned to the vehicle, it is beleived these were all assigned prior to receipt of the vin number on the assembly line. These three strings of numbers are used to validate original paperwork. Different docuements use different combinations of those three strings, none of the strings are published data that can be obtained. The shipping data record contains those strings and is used for document validation.
That is why a tank sheet for example on a 67 can be validated or rejected for a specific VIN without a VIN on the document.
That is why an MSO can be validated or rejected as non original.
That is why a wholesale invoice can be validated or rejected as non original, etc.- Top

Re: documentation validation
The service is what it is, that is all I will say with respect to the practices we use in the validation service...

Re: documentation validation
The GM zone, dealer number, dealer name and location are not a consideration in validating documents as that information may be obtained from among other sources the Shipping Data Report NCRS produces.

Am I to understand that for validation to occur on, say, a tank sticker I must send in the original tank sticker? Obviously my concern is if my original tank sticker got lost (not that that ever happens with the USPS)Leif

Re: documentation validation
I've never sent an original, only a copy. I've used the service about 10 times and only once could a document not be verified, that was due to much of the document being unreadable. It's a great service that I use even if I'm sure a document is real, this just verifies it in everyone's eyes.I learned on one of my cars that the selling dealer was not the dealer the car was delivered to. Not a problem, they just got the car from another dealer.- Top

No we do not want you to send the original documents to us, all we require is a good high resolution photo or scan of the documents.- Top
