You need to define "steering bump" not sure what you mean.

If you are referring to a point in turning the steering wheel at which the steering effort become momentarily greater, this is due to defects inside the steering box. Typically, the sector roller has either dents or small chunks of metal missing. There are rebuild kits with new sector rollers and new worm gears.

John, when I bought my 61, the steering had a real 'notchy' feeling to it. Seemed like a serious of 'speed bumps' as you turned the wheel. Finally pulled it apart and found the sector gear damaged. The only fix is to rebuild it with new parts.
