    Power Window Fuse

I am installing a new P/W wire harness . I found the "Littelfuse" attached to my old harnesses two red wires , as well as an identical one in the bag where I kept the P/W center console switch . Do P/W's require two of these ? Did I just pick one up somewhere and not even remember it ?? Does something else require one of these "littelfuse" type fuses ? As I said both are identical 12V 40 Amp metal cap black base two pronged fuses . Inquiring minds are going crazy . Thanks . Jim

    Re: Power Window Fuse

Power Windows need a circuit breaker (where two red wires are connected) like the one in your picture 40amp.

The second circuit breaker is for the headlight motor (also two red wires connected).

They are attached to the kick panel on the left side using a clip.

I posted a similar thread because my circuit breaker for the headlight motor was just hanging loosely down.

    Regards

      Thanks Rudy,

Just got done reading your answer and your older post , it does indeed answer my question!

If you can believe it , I did do a search first, before I posted, but totally missed yours .

I also miss bagged that breaker a long time ago . Should have gone in the Headlight switch bag , not the P/W switch bag.

I still can't imagine how I would ever progress without this forum !!

Ok , There is only one thing I don't understand.

It seems that both fuses occupy the same space on the hinge pillar. In the electrical section of the AIM it shows the Headlight fuse and clip . However once you add Power Windows the AIM says to put the P/W fuse in the square hole in the hinge pillar . That displaces the headlight fuse to where ? That it does not say .

        Pictures anyone !!

          Hello Jim

Glad I was able to help you a bit. It's sometimes easy to miss an older post.

You are right, I also read that in the AIM. I am also interested where exactly it is clipped to. I think it goes right below the power window circuit breaker. I ordered a clip for the headlight circuit breaker, after that I will also have to figure out the exact location. A picture of both circuit breakers on a P/W car would be best.

            Re: Power Window Fuse

            Rudy,

I am beginning to think there was no clip for the headlight fuse if you have P/W also .

Upon further archive searching there is another exact post :
            Alexander Michelini (45077)

63 Power Window Circuit Breaker Location

He never got an answer to the second location either. That tells me there is no second clip or location for a second clip. Otherwise the folks on this forum would have supplied an answer and photos . They have never let me down yet .
After reviewing your photos . I think the headlight fuse just hung there , just as your pic suggests. There is most definitely not a second hole in the hinge pillar , and that clip can only go into something like that, or maybe attach to the hinge pillar brace .

Of course, that's just my opinion , I could be wrong !

The location for the clip is up right behind the crossbar. You should find the small square hole for it.

                Jeremy,

I have indeed found that square hole . If it is used for the P/W fuse, the question now is where does the headlight fuse go, and does it also use a clip ?

                  Re: Power Window Fuse

There is a hole up and behind the crossbar and a hole down lower by the top of the vent. The lower hole is normally used for the headlight circuit breaker, unless you also have power windows, then you use the lower hole for the p/w circuit breaker and the upper hole for the headlight circuit breaker. Both circuit breakers use the same type clip.

                    Jeremy,

So there is ! I just looked and found it !

                    Thank You Sir .

                      Re: Power Window Fuse

Thank you all for the answer. This solved the mystery. that's the reason why the one in the lower hole is the p/w circuit breaker on my car and I need to install the headlight motor circuit breaker above.

                        Rudy,

Nice to know the answers huh ?

I would have liked to have said " If it was a snake it would have bit me ". However it is much more like " If you blink , you'll miss it ". At least until you know where to look .
I even found my other fuse clip once I heard it existed and therefore looked for it . So I am back in business . At least until the next hurdle .

Thanks again for your help ,

                        Jim

                          Hello Jim

Could you please post a picture of the headlight circuit breaker + a picture of the power window circuit breaker installed on your car. I just want to figure out, if I have done it right.

                          Thank you
