    63 numbers question(s)

The 63 (car 5883) that I'm looking at has a trim tag build date of D5 (5th week of December) and an engine stamp build date of 1212 (December 12). Since Dec 1962 had six weeks (Dec 1 was a Sat) and the 31st (New Year's Eve) was a Monday, and the last car built that month was #5972 (89 away from 5883), what day do you figure 5883 was built? Does anyone know many cars per day were assembled? December has so many holidays (not only Saturdays and Sundays but Christmas/eve/day, New Year's eve), that I'm stumped. Finally, is it logical that the engine (300 hp) was assembled/stamped approximately 2 weeks before the car? Somehow it seems a little early, no? Because of the ignition shielding I couldn't see the casting date.
thanks for your help and opinions.

The 1963 Corvette was in high demand, and total '63 model production was about double '62 The plant was on two shifts and all the overtime that the UAW contract would allow.

The C6 was similar until the financial meltdown except only one shift.

In '62, (Calender year) the Christmas and new years day holidays were 1/2 day on the "eve" and Full day on the Holiday. I'd look at last Friday before New years eve.
