I just started the car yesterday with the key for the first after sitting idle for almost 9 months after body drop. (Too cold). Although still sucking out of a can it started up pretty good after 6 long cranks. I let it run for a few minuted and noticed about 1/2 quart of transmission fluid on the floor. Even tho this tranny is rebuilt by very reputible old timer. sitting that long full of fluid still seeped back into the cavity via the input shaft seal (new) (and new hub on converter) and filled the resiviour then up thru the tube. I called him and he said thats a common problem for the powerglide which they eventually fixed with a vent maybe around 58. He said the car wouldnt do it after running because it wont have enough tome to bleed back that fast. Sooooooo. If your car sits for an extended period of time, check that dip stick and if its appears over filled, suck out a quart or so and put it back in later. Might keep the floor cleaner. I thought this interesting even tho I dont like it.
