Re: Re-dyeing while vinyl door panels on a '64
Gary,
The original door panels were not dyed. They were molded in color. But to replicate the color Corvette America has a spray to make them a satin white color. It is not a dye but rather a thin, high pigment paint. It will wear with use, but can be redone to look fresh again. IMO it looks good but one can tell your secret as it gets some wear......- Top

Garry,As Gene has mentioned, your original door panels are molded with the color. Have you tried scrubbing them really good with a nylon brush and Simply Green or similar product?LeifLeif

Gary, Corvette America also make a primer for vinyl. This will aid with the paint adhering to the panels.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

I don't think adhesion is not the problem but that the finish wears if you use your car any amount. My driver 65 is now in need of a "refresh" on door panels from "enjoyed usage". Still not too bad looking. But not perfect. Just be willing to keep up finish and I think you will be pleased with the results.- Top

Garry: Take both of your armrests off and clean them and evaluate just how close they are to the finish your seeking; then call Young Paint Sales (19th Ave between Indian School and Camelback - west side) and make an appointment with Scott to go after the color you're seeking.- Top
