Re: Sportsman Award Clarification, Please...
That sounds right to me. All I know is that if you enter Sportsman at a National, you better show up for the membership meeting or you will never get your ribbon, they don't seem to allow them to be mailed.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

The second & third time around for the 10 points can be a Chapter 2 points, a Regional 3 points and a National 5 points all in one year I believe.

Hi Dave,
Be aware that the award will be sent to the last chapter you joined. If only joined one then you're OK! But if you happened to join another chapter, say the Steak eating boys, they will receive the plaque! You might try to head off the problem if it relates to you with an email to Mr. Brigham?- Top

Originally posted by Dave Perry (19643)I care not a wit about "ribbons". I've traveled 7,000 miles to attend 5 events for Sportsman, and have 1 ribbon. And I didn't know I had that one, until I went just now and looked at the stack of ribbons in my closet. (5 different colors [no red or white] with the same car. You figure them out).
I'm interested in completing the requirements that only 122 Members of an organization that has had 60,000+ members over its existence have also completed by incurring the expense and dedication to the travel, hassles of registration, risk of mechanical breakdowns, and the other nuances involved. Only an individual that has also achieved this award will recognize what this award represents. Someone observing a ribbon hanging on yer garage wall won't have a clue.
"Ribbons?" I don't think so. As I said, they're in my closet. I could care less. My goal is to gain the respect of the 122 Members that have met the requirements for Sportsman, and of the 59,878+ Members that have not.
Can you explain what you mean about the 122 members, are you saying only 122 members have recieved the Sportsman Award ? I'm working on my second Award which I should get this year as well as getting my car Flight Judged this fall. I personaly would like to see more recognition for this award especially if you want people to drive there cars. The Sportsman award that I've earned has been done with my 67, I've covered over 5500 miles so far and it's been fun.
