    Cooling System Maintenance

While I've read the GM suggested cooling system maintenance schedules, my question pertains to a car that is in "storage". I have two cars stored and I'm concerned that some unseen damages can occur inside the radiator/motors cooling system.

Can someone please explain exactly what the best preventative maintenance method is, and how often?

    Re: Cooling System Maintenence

Regular coolant changes are the required maintenance to prevent corrosion because the corrosion inhibitors get consumed with time and miles.

Zerex G-05 that I recommend for vintage cars with soldered components is okay for five years if the car is operated regularly. Long term lack of use can result in localized corrosion because the coolant is not circulated.

Winter storage - say six month, no problem, but for long term storage, say over a couple of years, it may be a better idea to drain and dry the cooling system.
