HELP: 65 Alternator #1100697

Trying to get my 1965 L76 (with A/C and T.I.) an 100697 alternator. Everybody keeps trying to tell me the 1100694 will do the job. But I don't want to "almost" restore my car. I've tried all the usual routes, but nothing. Anybody have a creative idea? Thanks.

Well, what routes have you tried? When I was looking for some 858 heads, I went down a list of Corvette vendors supplied by Noland Adams. The list was pretty long and somewhat outdated, but I called each one of them until I found my heads. I actually found a couple sets and started a minor bidding war. I might be able to dig up the list if you're interested.

697 is probably the hardest alternator to find. John Pirkle saw the one on my car and said in 20 years said that was the second one he had ever seen. Any Alternator of equal amperage rating will work. Call John Pirkle, Jr and see what he can fix you up with. He built a close match for my resto rat rod 65 that looks very good

You can EASILY have an alternator which conforms to virtually every facet of original configuration and output specification EXCEPT for "numbers". In fact, you could purchase an auto parts store type rebuilt DN series alternator for your car that would probably be about 90% correct and cost very low bucks. John Pirkle can fix you up with one that's probably 99% correct except for numbers. It'll cost you more but it will be an as-new alternator (except for numbers).

If you wish that "numbers correct" alternator for your application, you're going to be looking for a long while and, unless you get REAL lucky, you're going to pay BIG $$$$$$$ for it. And, the only difference between it and the ones I described above will be "numbers".


CAUTION: If you do find one with the 1100697 part number the chances are HIGH that it will be a re-stamp.

I know I have a 1965 alternator in my parts bin. Let me dig into this and I'll post what i find. Probably a 1100694 but i'll check.

Well I have 3 NOS front cases (drive end) awaiting an undetectable 697 60 Amp re-stamp .

I also have an NOS stator for the 697; #1964122, but no luck with the corresponding rotor 1964119, in spite of scanning eBay for over a decade. So my "build" is on hold.

Matt -- do you have your 1116368 T.I. volt reg ? Easier to find than the 1100697 alternator.
