I have an original '67 sb A/C condenser correctly mounted into my '66 BB. The condenser looks exactly like any of the ones pictured in numerous postings. However when opening the hood, the hood contacts the top of the condenser, allowing no further movement and restricting the hood support from engaging the locking mechanism. This is a no-hit body all parts are original.
'66 bb hood will not open far enough to allow support to engage.

Okay, the hood was not original. Are you saying in your thread about "A/C hood Support" that all A/C '66 and later with a driver side hood support will have had the attaching point for the support to hood "moved" to a different location on the hood frame (with pop rivets)? I will find this on all these mid-years (unless the mold was changed at some point)? Is this the correct fix for my problem in my post?- Top

John,
To post a photo, hit the "Reply" icon, then the "Go Advanced" button. Next, scroll down aways, hit the "Manage Attachments" button.
By the way, this thread probably belongs in the Technical Discussion forum instead of here. You will most likely get a better response if you can talk one of the administrators (Gary Chesnut, John Waggoner or Rob Musquetier) to move it for you. Let me know if you need help contacting them.

Glad to hear from another member (other than myself) from the wasteland. I was quite surprised to see your e-mail. Is that how "Private Message" works? I think that I have used it once or twice. However you found me, if you are interested in my hood support issue I pretty much have decided on a course of action. Now I'm using a reply w/quote so I have no clue if this will get to you or just take up space on my thread. So just to be sure I'm going to copy this to a private message to you. Too much fucntionality for my taste. Thanks for your help!- Top

Re: '66 bb hood will not open far enough to allow support to engage.
Joe,
Is this "reply" to you or to the thread? Anyhow, As I understand it the clearances of these components is tight by all accounts. Back in '73' I replaced a top surround and inner skirts. Not surprising that with multiple component replacements small measurement differences in each can add up to a hhhmmmmmm at completion time. In my case almost 40 years. My solution? I "repaired" my hood support by removing 1/2 inch from it between the ATWOOD stamping and the swivel at the hood mounting location. I still get originality points even if detected.- Top
