    GM 1962-1972 Corvette Delivery Data

Can "the powers that be" responsible for the Delivery Data Docs program post an image or scanned example of the docs provided under this program? (with the sample VIN redacted of course)

    Thanks!

Does it matter that much? I for one will opt for getting the docs for my 63 no matter what they are - just to complete my file which, as an original owner, is already quite complete. I want everything and anything that I can gather about my car. My original dealer is long gone and, although I saved most of the papers, I'm sure there are some more out there and I want them.

More to the point: Why not? For those that have some documentation, It'd be nice to see what $40 buys before making the commitment.

Dan, the John Hinckley comments in the following two quotes does a good a job with repsect to answering your question, each and every reponse provided could potentially be different depending on what you have and what you request.

"If you don't have any docs and want to know what dealer sold the car originally (or, to be more accurate, the dealer to which the car was originally delivered), the "Shipping Data Report" will tell you that."

"If you have some docs (like a tank sticker or window sticker, Car Shipper, etc.) and aren't sure about its accuracy or authenticity, the "Document Validation Service" will answer that question."

Dan -- Pretend it's December 7th and we've only got about 30 days before opening the Christmas package and discovering how lucky we are.

I use the Christmas analogy because we're being treated like children. The 'PTB' either know item by item, or they don't. Posting a punch-list is the decent thing to do.

Or, just wait until the first few members get their "package #1 or #2" and post pics. Then the rest of us can decide whether it's worth the $40, or $80 for both.

Assuming that the information is pretty much the same as the "Dealer Invoice" already discussed (and available through Allied Vaughn for later cars), here's a sample of what you can expect:

Maybe a bird in a bush is an epiphany of different sort.

Bad assumption. It's not a dealer invoice being offered.

I am confused if you have to the information to validate information on such items as a tank sticker etc.. couldnt someone use that same information to validate options on a car without any documentation???? For example if my tank sticker says that my car originally had side pipes and I send NCRS a copy of my tank sticker to check with records to see if those option were indeed on the car why couldnt you just send all the records that you have on a particular vin# corvette then a car without documents can be documented?? Just like the PHS Pontiac Historical Society you send one fee and they send you all the info they have on a particular car.

Yes, you are confused... My take is two services were announced:

The shipping history data base simply says VIN XXXX was produced on date X for dealer Y. There's nothing to confirm the configuration of the car because that information wasn't needed. At the time of shipment both GM and the dealer had separate paperwork documenting how VIN XXXX was configured.

The document verification service is based on YOU supplying the document of interest and NCRS rendering a best efforts opinion as to its authenticity.

Another question of interest is now that we have access to the 1962-72 shipping history, will there be another IT project to work the data base 'backwards' to provide a better and more accurate data base for the existing dealer code look up we have today?
