Joe,

Your hop #15 is the same place I time out.

Using the proxy from another location proves it a broadband Internet problem and not the server.

Too bad I couldn't get the carrier interested in resolving their network problem.

Was able to pinpoint the problem with the help of the NCRS server provider.

Joe,

BTW, would only use that proxy to test with and not use for anything else. Nor enter any login info while using it. You never know what those type of services capture.

Gary et al,
Thank you very much for your efforts in trying to resolve this problem. For myself, I can't do the kinds of maneuvers recommended above- I'm concerned that I might do something that irreparably damages my computer or takes out the entire electrical grid east of the Mississippi. For now I will just deal with the delays patiently.

FWIW, I've escalated this problem to the office of the president of the carrier involved.

Hope that will result in the problem being resolved, but doubtful.

Whatever you did -it worked! This morning I clicked on the link from a notification email and it instantly opened the site. I then used my bookmark and again opened right away. Let's hope that this is now "the new normal".

Jeff,

Don't have a clue who did what, but as you said, initial page load server response time is back to the "new normal" like it was before.

Been having daily calls with AT&T Internet Technical Staff and the server provider working with their network people.

Hopefully, will find out who fixed something. In today's Internet world, there is no end-to-end service responsibility. Basically, if you can connect, regardless of how long it takes; "there's no problem" is the Internet service philosophy.
