        I'm with Stewart also.

Stuart, I think you gave the contact address for the American MidYear Society.

This is not a bad idea. It would involve some work on my part but I can see that it would be feasible.

We had not done this earlier because we just didn't have the mechanism to get the pictures and make it all work.

I would not want to limit the viewing of pictures to just members through the TDB, but that is the easiest way to get the photos to show to all of the world.

I have not researched this completely, but here are some thoughts. I could create a Forum just for members to upload pictures of their cars. It would really help if the pictures were of good quality, and of a reasonable size, 640x480.

I could then create a page or numerous pages of photos of members cars broken down by model year and use the photos that were uploaded to display on the pages.

I would suggest for security reasons that only pictures and maybe the owners name be used. Best if you don't include the license plate, or maybe smear it a little so it is not readable.

            What do you think?

I agree also. I would also suggest to have some helpful photographs of the engine compartments, under the dash or builds of cars at different stages. Sometimes, it helps to compare a photograph which is easily referenced. For example, the c1registry has some excellent photographs:

              http://www.c1registry.com/index.php?...llery&uid=5366

I would avoid posting vin numbers or any stamp pad numbers. Rather just reference material.

For example, how does the dash look underneath in a C1? How does a correct engine bay looks like? How is the paint in the wheel wells done? Those are some of the photographs I am looking for.

Also, for security... i really do not think posting pictures will give up any security. IMHO nobody really cares about photographs. It is not like you are giving up your ATM Debit pin #.

It would be cool to see some of the project cars out there. Maybe a section fo restoration projects.

I think you are on the right path. I respect the thoughts of members that are true to the idea of technical only portion of the sight. But, in order to attract more people to the NCRS and continue its growth, a picture album of sort can only help. Also, I like the idea of linking the vin# to the picture. It will help the NCRS further catalog the cars. Just my own thoughts.........

I like Stu's idea. List the car's by year and V.I.N. and go with owners first name only, members only veiwing and like John said obscure or remove your plates for the photo's. We could call it the "Veiw Board".

Re: Why is there no photos of members cars

If we leave it only viewable to members then we loose the value as a membership recruiting tool.

Are you sure we want to post VIN numbers? Optional? Members name and State? First Name only? First and Last name and State or Country? Got a lot of active members that are outside the USA.

Re: Why is there no photos of members cars

Give some thought to what to do with those of us who would like to show more than one car in the picture?

This is not a negative idea -- just suggesting that we should start a poll for how long before we find an NCRS car for sale on that famous auction site with an owner traveling in Europe and requesting an up-front payment by wire transfer to secure the bid. I think that would add to the fun.

                          John,
Other websites that have a picture album do have the photos somewhat protected. Perhaps leaving the vin# to just the NCRS files or to members only may be of value. I do like the idea of photos being available to non-members to facilitate growth in membership. You would just have to find a place to "draw a line". If you go to www.yenko.net an look at "members rides", you may find a template to add that to this site.

                            JOHN-

Good point, I never thought about it from the recuiting side of it.

But I think putting out there for more ideas is an excellant thing. Maybe just use the members NCRS # as a way to identify the car and leave the other info. optional to each car that has posted pictures. That way non-members will still be able to veiw the cars but not know who the owner is. We as members can always use the members list to look up who the owner is and direct questions direct to that person via e-mails.

Stewart...the tech forum had its beginning in a content oriented tech information sharing forum and did not get into the graphics mode until the last year. It's still a content oriented forum...saving bandwidth for substance rather than graphics, familiar to other forum formats.
