"1) Is there an easy way to see if a Forum has any new posts in it (TDB vs Dealer Info vs Help Board, etc) on the main "Forum" page?
    2) I can't seem to discern any difference in the logos or the appearance of the page.

    Patrick,

    1) New Posts button on the black menu bar below the blue Nav bar works same as it did in the old forum. All new posts.
What's New button on the blue Nav bar will show all new posts.
    2) Threads with new posts - Titles are bold, threads with no new posts are not, work same as it did in the old forum.

      Gary,

I'm familiar with the new posts button. I use it on a different forum.
However, on the former Forum page, you could tell if there were any new posts in that particular sub-forum without having to enter them. I can't see that feature here. As a result I don't anticipate I'll ever enter the other 3 forums - which might be just fine.

Why did the forum need changing at all? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Again, how do you view a member's profile? New way(whatever it is) doesn't seem as intuitive-user friendly-as old way.William Ford 50517

              Terry,

Not talking about the thread. As mentioned, I've used a newer version of this program for over a year on another forum.
              I'm talking about this page:
              https://www.forums.ncrs.org/index.php

How does one tell if there are any new threads in the forums listed? I think that there used to be an icon (green dot? I can't recall) that let you know if there were new threads in the subforums (Dealer, Help and Test) since your last visit.
In my other non-car forum the logo at the head of the forum (think the 53 photo, the magnifying glass character or the Help button on our Forum page I linked above) change color when there are new posts inside of that forum.
I see no such notifier here.

Now, I rarely went to the other 3 forums anyway so it's no big loss for me. However, if there is no notification for anyone then I suspect others will also bypass the other forums.

                Gary,

Just a small thing, and it may have already been reported. On the menu bar at the top of the page there are two "Forum" buttons and two "What's new?" buttons, but we only really need one of each.

You will have to set the default program on your PC to open .bmp file extensions. Nothing to do with the forum upgrade.

And a thundering "AMEN" was heard throughout the land, except for the NCRS powers-that-be, of course. Dare one ask what "Go Advanced" entails.......Farsi language instruction?

I'll keep trying, but so far I find the new format less friendly. For one thing, I have to log on each time which forces me to dig out my I.D and password each time. Perhaps I'll figure that out too some day.

There is a remember me check box underneath your login name. Checking this box worked for me.

                          Hi,
It appears that we can now up-load pictures from a website in addition to from our computers.
The browse prompt asks for a url... I don't know what that is. I'd like to be able to use pictures from PhotoBucket where I have them stored. Can I do that? If so can you please give me a bit of guidance.
I do like seeing all the pictures I've already up-loaded since I sometimes add them to a new post.
                          Thanks Very Much!!
                          Regards,
                          Alan

Alan, the URL is the web address. Just open up Photo Bucket, find the album you want, click on the photo, you will see the box "direct link" under it. Click on that, come back to the tdb and paste that address (url) in the necessary box.

                              John:
My thanks to you and all that worked on the changes, I think the user interface is a big improvement.

I did notice a couple of minor cosmetic issues you may want to evaluate. I am using IE9 on a 1920x1200 monitor.
Overlays e.g. The "Advanced Search" box will overlay the "Driveline Online" tab if a user narrows the window size or operates with "zoom Level" in IE9 over 100%. Also the thread number or page number indicator / selector at the top of the thread display area will overlap the "Visit us on Facebook" text and hotlink under the same conditions.

This is indeed possible. We need to create additional icons with something in it to highlight there is something to read in that particular forum (like a color change or something else). We are just working on some of the other (minor) issues we have encountered before we can start working on this feature...

                                regards,
