Well it time for a memorial. Corvette is no longer King of the American Auctions. Chevelles, Mustangs and Cuda's are the new "King of the Hill".

Another 20 years and our cars will be like Model A's are now, Worthless! Everybody that wanted a Model A is dead or dying! Can expensive Corvettes be far behind? Don't laugh, go to Carlisle and look a the participants. Fat, 50+ with all the Corvette lifestyle trinkets and trash on their body and car. And let's not forget that "new" C-5 Corvette they are driving!

Did you hear that? Another mid-year and C-1 just got sold so the owner could get a new C-5. Imagine, selling an old Corvette for something that rides good, handles great, has chilly wind (A/C), IS COMFORTABLE, always starts, does'nt leak, won't overheat, and is something momma will actually ride on a long trip. What the hell is wrong with these people.

The new Corvette has a problem and it is the age of the buyer. Young people can't afford them and besides Corvette is car for old people. Not near as kool at Toyota or Honda with a fart can exhaust tip and a wing!

Better get the money for your old Corvette NOW while the old people, (the market), that like old Corvettes are still alive and still have a little money left. Of course, that are the few people who have not owned their childhood Corvette dream.

Did you hear that? Sold, another mid-year just found another new owner at a reduced price. Now, do I buy a C-5 or a Boxster with the money? Decisions? Decisions?

I just built me an old midyear with modern running works and have the best of both worlds. Your premise sounds plausible on the surface, but I believe that there is enough mistique to carry the midyear into the next generation. I have just sold a `65 to a 19 year old College student and he is grinning from ear to ear. His friends are comming by everyday to see the progress. They are excited as he is. And try to buy a J Duesenburg, all those guys are dead too.

Agree, young people cannot affor them. But back in the '60 the young people could not afford them then. So what is new? Buying a Vette is like buying two "normal" cars, now and back then. Nothing has changed.

from when i was 25 till about 35 i drove new solid axle and stingray corvettes but they do not do any thing for me today. i tell everybody that i would never trade my 02 C-5 for any of the older ones if i had to drive it even if it is worth twice(?) what my C-5 sells for. i guess this come with old age.

I drove my brother-in-law's 50th anniversary Vette the other day.The heads up display was neat, but over all and without that, it was like driving a Ford Taurus. I'll take my C3 any day, quite frankly I like the C3 body style more. It just has better lines. Just my opinion.

Parked in our toy garage is my 67 factory sidepiped conv. and my wife's new Boxster S. One day the highschooler across the street came over with his buddies asking if they could see the cars. They spent about 2 minutes putting eyeball scratches in the Porsche and the rest of the time looking at and asking questions about the old Vette,and begging me to fire it up. Long live the king.

I'm 27 and bought my C2 when I was 26. I can assure you that these cars will be cherished by my generation. My friends ask me about the car every day and say that I own a piece of American History. I get a crowd at every gas station and little kids look at it as some sort of spaceship that they've never seen before.

Sure that Model A was a piece of american history but it was a vehicle of necessity. The Corvette - especially the late c1s to early C3s represent a unique period in time where the technology grew faster than regulation and you had some spectacular results.

I think the muscle car mystique is stonger than ever - look at all the new TV shows and movies - you'll find many instances where classic muscle cars are featured.
AS for all the rice burners fart pipe type R racers - I believe that they understand that the classic Corvette is a true muscle car and respect it in many ways.

This hobby will not die.

When I was 10 years old I saw a black C2 drive through my town. I fell in love with it there and finally got my 63 Coupe (Riverside Red btw) last year. I recently had a girlfriend who the first thing I fould out about her was that the 63 coupe was also her dream car (we broke up this summer .... but my car arrived on her BD in Sept ... I promised it to her as a wedding gift ... her loss and a bit of cosmic justice :-)) I had 4 offers for my car within 2 weeks of getting it. I drive through downtown and the older people stare because they know what it is and the younger ones because they don't .... either way, I love it.

I wouldn't give up this feeling for the world... won't stop me buying my current GF (this one's my lifemate :-)) the '71 Duster she wants though.

The reason I own this car is because it is fanatastic, has style and is relatively unique in a world full of copies and wannabes. You can keep the rest ... I'll stick to MY dreams thank you.

My wife and I drove our 1955 Corvette pulling a tear drop trailer to N.Y from Ca. covering over 10,000 mile even Canada. We over nighted in KOA camp sites, it ran like a dream doing 75 to 80 MPH She is %100 original restored and (no we never got a ticket)but were stoped three time just to ask what we were driving. 50% of the people 60 and over we're most interested in the trailer , I don't think they new what we were driving. If we could have gotten one dollar for each pic. taken of our rig the gas would have been free. My biggest surprise is when we got into a area of a town were you should not go,the people loved the Corvette and trailer so much they asked questions and were so friendly it sat me back in my seat.I love driving it because you never see any one else driving a 53-55 Corvette every day as we do as often as we can.People ask , what if you brake down or hit some thing, and I tell them why should I save it for some one else to trailer or injoy, when we enjoy it NOW.

They must make the Ford Taurus alot different in the US, up here in Canada they are @#$%! How can you compare the two?

I considered driving as well, but 9 days in CA was all the time my wife gave me.
