I need a radiator support for a early 61 (60's type top tank). Should I look around for a used one or are the repros the way to go? I want to keep the car as original as possible. I am not sure if I will be able to find an original. Thanks, Joe DeLuca #37862

Re: C1 RADIATOR SUPPORT
Joe,
I was faced with the same dilemma. The original was rusted very badly where the carriage bolts go through the bottom so I opted for a repro. As repros go, the one I got from CC wasn't too bad, I think I had to file the corners of the top cross bar because of an interference but other than that it works and looks fine.

Re: C1 RADIATOR SUPPORT
Joe, I had same type problem and solved by buying another partly rusted 59 or 60 support off ebay a couple of years ago. My 58 drain plug hole is round on the right side and the support I bought was elongated on the right. The carriage area support was rusted badly and so on. I cutout/traded/welded in sections, welded my front bracing and attachments on the newer support, cutout the elongated drain section and made a circle section and moved to the left side, welded in a solid section where I removed the drain hole, and shaved off the newer support lower carriage bolt area and welded same section in from my old 58 support. When finished, I had a perfect looking 58 original support. Think I have $35 invested and I had a terrific time doing it. Worked for me--maybe I am cheap.- Top
