My oil pressure goes from zero at startup to pegged right while running. I stuck a 100 psi gauge on and its reading 70 psi. Motor has just been rebuilt. Could this be a potential problem or is this normal?

Re: 1967 L36 oil pressure
My guess, your engine rebuilder installed a high flow/high pressure pump that might have use in racing applications. A rebuiler told me once he uses these as most customers view high oil pressure reading as a sign of a superior rebuild. I prefer the factory pump & pressure. Why waste horsepower pumping oil.- Top

Re: 1967 L36 oil pressure
agree twith the dipstick. rebuilder probably installed the l-88 style pump. shouln't hurt anything unless you intend to performance verify the car, in which case keith biggers will frown on the higher than normal idling oil pressure. by the way no one knows how to cheat a few extra hp out of his engines than dennis- Top

This is Scary *TL*
That both these guys, Mike McCagh, member #14, and Dennis (Dipstick) Clark have finally learned how to use a computer. Between them, they probably forgot more than all of us combined will ever know about Corvettes.
