    1967 L36 oil pressure

My oil pressure goes from zero at startup to pegged right while running. I stuck a 100 psi gauge on and its reading 70 psi. Motor has just been rebuilt. Could this be a potential problem or is this normal?

My guess, your engine rebuilder installed a high flow/high pressure pump that might have use in racing applications. A rebuiler told me once he uses these as most customers view high oil pressure reading as a sign of a superior rebuild. I prefer the factory pump & pressure. Why waste horsepower pumping oil.

agree twith the dipstick. rebuilder probably installed the l-88 style pump. shouln't hurt anything unless you intend to performance verify the car, in which case keith biggers will frown on the higher than normal idling oil pressure. by the way no one knows how to cheat a few extra hp out of his engines than dennis

        This is Scary *TL*

That both these guys, Mike McCagh, member #14, and Dennis (Dipstick) Clark have finally learned how to use a computer. Between them, they probably forgot more than all of us combined will ever know about Corvettes.

That they both agree on something. (Forget the cheating accusation. That is jsut trash talk.)

we both agree on something because we both now sleep at the foot of the same cross

I can't even get a "TL" designation. But, what do I care, I'll settle for a reaction time that's about a half minute better than Mike "MD Missle" McCagh.

just tell them you have 50W oil in the engine that is why the pressure is high. by the way what weight oil are you using?

Yo Clem... If I didn't own/ride a Harley, I wouldn't even know what you were talking about. Sounds like STP stuff to me...

When you live in the rain forest, you

don't worry about extra heat in the motor - you try for it, so the hot dogs cook faster.
