On a search to purchase a original 3247 holly for my 425 hp 66 car, my questions are: what does the El or A or nothing behind the GM part #3886101 stand for? What are the #'s on the front and rear metering blocks supposed to be? I located one with a 3/4 " x 1/2" piece broken off and repaired on the top of the airhorn above the part#'s and date area. How is this type of metal repaired and what points would be taken off for condition. The repair is very visible. thanks.

avoid the repaired air horn esp if the repair is very visible . Counterfieters have been know to remove later service date 3247" and then attempt to re-stamp an appropriate date code to fool the judges. judges look at this area of a holly to see if there has been any tampering and if the repair on the carb you're looking at is in the same area the judges will be suspicious. -
