    Re: Pretty Good Guess

My pockets were bulging with cash and the seller saw it. The main problem was his phone was ringing off the hook with people telling him not to sell it until they looked at it. He obviously realized his price was right and the title was not an issue. I just took my '64 for a cruise to ease the pain.

      Re: Pretty Good Guess

maybe that seller has a good plan, underprice the item so more people come to look and then get them into a bidding war. anytime i have something for sale the first guy that shows up with cash even a few dollars under what i am asking, because i always post a higher figure than i want, he leaves with the item because he may be the only buyer. i am going to try this guys plan the next time and see what happens. i wonder where you stand legally if you refuse to sell at the advertised price. any lawyers out there?

          Another thing...

I'm not sure the guy was that clever but one thing that won't leave my mind is the fact that I gave the state location in one of my posts which could have gotten everyone and their brother that reads this board combing major Ohio newspapers for this guy. It would have been easy to find. Now that will really toast me if that were the case. Another lesson learned.

            Re: What about Salvage Titles?

If local State authorities recognize salvage titles as a legitimate vehicle for licensing the resultant vehicle, NCRS doesn't care (car simply has to have proof of ownership, in force insurance, and proper VIN tag from a recognized authority). Other organizations and/or potential buyers might discriminate, but that's their problem....

The NCRS motto is restoration/preservation. So, if the restoration is done properly, meets the club's judging rules, who cares? In fact, one could take the position such a restoration (recovery from raced/wrecked/abandoned or bone yard imporvished position) boards on 'heroic' effort and REALLY fits the objective of restoration/preservation--why throw away a 'perfectly good' Corvette solely due to transgressions of prior owners?????
