C3 w/s solenoid energized all the time

    Hi Guys,
So after several months of repair, I still get a little clink from the w/s solenoid every time I apply power to the system. Everything in the wiper circuit has been replaced or repaired. I had read several months ago that this was a problem others were having but I don't recall that a solution was posted. I'm thinking of disabling the solenoid and just using the overide for now. I have replaced the wiper motor and pump and the problem continues. The replacement pump doesn't have the same color scheme as the original and I'm not 100% sure I have it wired correctly. Is there a way for me to apply power to the motor in a given way to figure out the scheme? Also, when I take either the brown, or black wires (ig harness side) to the motor off, the solenoid de energizes. Seems to me that I have continuity in the motor, as those colors correspond to the solenoid. John D had sent me a schematic of the motor, but I'll be damned if I can find the offender.
    Thanx
    Ed
    PS
Yes, I have a battery disconnect switch and the car is never left energized.

What's wrong with the theory of operation + troubleshooting text given in the Chassis Service Manual's sections covering the Corvette WSW door and WSW motor and washer????

Hi Ed. I had a similar problem on my 70 and Jack gave me the same advice. I know that it is much easier when someone tells you exactly what to do but one does not learn anything from that approach to problem solving. I purchased the Fisher Body Manual as Jack suggested, studied the section on Corvette wipers, and then fixed the problem. I benefited from Jack's advice in that I purchased a manual that I probably would not have purchased without Jack's avice. I have referenced the manual on several occassions and found solutions to problems that I was unable to locate in other repair manuals.

I will fax you the section on Corvette wipers from the Fisher Body Manual if you would like it. I cannot fax it until Thursday because I am on vacation now and I will not return home until Wednesday. Just let me know at leemcgla@bellsouth.net.

        Thanks

          Jack:

I spent over 2 months trying to trouble shoot my 1968 with the service manual as reference. It is really tough to understand/use. I found the article in Volume 13 of the Restorer much more useful.

In the end the culprit was a simple adjustment of the park relay that was not properly set by a wiper motor rebuilder. As we both know the 1968 wiper system is a bear.
