Still hunting for correct water pump. with date/ letter... Also the by-pass hose was painted with the motor?, assuming this is the one that comes from the top of the water pump to manifold. Correct me if I wrong. Also the 68-72 vette vues fact book states that the manifolds were painted with the motor.

Chester----
Obtaining a correctly dated water pump shouldn't be that difficult. Contact Bill Mock first. Bill advertises in the NCRS Driveline and is located in Bartlesville, OK. If he can't help you(which I doubt), then contact Paul Baker("The Pulley King") at Goat Hill Classics, in Long Beach, CA. If that doesn't work out either, contact Dr. Rebuild, Paragon Vintage, or Chicago Corvette.
Water pump bypass hose and exhaust manifolds usually show evidence of engine painting and/or overspray. It is virtually impossible to maintain the exhaust manifold painting if you drive the car, though. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: H2O pump revisited 68 BB
I called Bill Mock's and got a H2O pump at a good price. the dates he had were two before my engine build date and one 15 days after the engine build date on the block. She very intelligently informed me that the prior dates were no good and that the one after the engine date would do. Who cares at this point, it will be here in two days. Are these dates compatible with the guidlines or did I goof?- Top

Re: H2O pump revisited 68 BB
Chester,
I'm not sure how a water pump built after your motor was assembled could have ever made it on before the day of assembly...possible a time warp thing?
How much earlier were the other two dates? After all, 6 months of variation in dates BEFORE the motor assembly is normal. 15 days after is only compatible with a service assembly (read:replaced) unit that happened to be really close but not close enough.
