Can anyone recommend a supplier for a seal kit. Most I've checked with want to sell me the entire rebuild kit and all I have is a front seal leak. Thanks in advance.
Mike
For just a seal, try your local auto parts store... Other than that, I can recommend Larry Fischer at D&L Transmission for any T-10 parts (or muncie for that matter). See website below:
There is no front seal on a T-10 (or a Muncie); just the gasket between the bearing retainer and the main case. The only "seals" are O-rings on the shifter shafts in the side cover, the O-ring on the speedo gear sleeve, and the output shaft seal for the yoke.
if you're referring to the early t-10s(57 to 63) and not the super t-10s (which i'm totally unfamiliar with), then i don't think you will find ANY seals in the front of the tranny. the only true seal is pressed into the tailhousing and a leak there shows up there. if you have a leak up front, it could be the throw-out bearing retainer gasket , but most commonly the front leak is due to leakage betweem the cluster gear shaft and the t-10 case, which isn't an easy fix. if all you need is the retainer gasket, chevy ought to have one.if you're not in a hurry, send me your address and i'll send you one on the house. mike
Thanks everyone for your response. If in fact it is the front gasket it sounds a little easier to replace than a seal. Haven't pulled the tranny yet so hopefully that's all it is.
thanks again!
Mike
Mike, unable to send you my address through the discussion board for some unknown reason. Please send me an email and I will reply with my address.
Thanks!
