Having just finished restoring my '62 C1 I connected the distributor vacuum advance to the hollow carb. stud{after setting the timing to 8 deg. BTDC, dwell to 30 deg.]-- all according to the book -- but the idle was very rough. I tried adjusting the mixture screws on the AFB carb without success. The only way I could improve this rough idle was to disconnect the vacuum advance and cap the hollow stud!!!Suggestions please. Thanks Alan Kingston

Re: C1 Rough idle
Alan, Check for an air leak between the carb and the intake. I have often found that the gasket does not match the carb base. Not all wcfb gaskets will work on certain carb/ manifold combinations. Found this out on my dual carb set up on my 57. You can also spray a little gas around the base of the carb while it is running. If you get a change in idle at all you have a leak. Lots of luck.- Top
