    1957 Gas Tank Filter Replacement

There is a black cloth glued over the gas tank access panel under the soft top. How can I loosen this without tearing it and how do I reattach it?

Is there any trick to removing the sending unit from the tank?

How does the "sock" filter attach to the sending unit intake line?

    Dan,
You can try soaking the mat with 3M Adhesive Remover then peeling back the edges gently until you get to the screws.
I'm not sure if that will work or not. You may be better off cutting the mat around the edge of the tank cover
The sending unit will come out of the tank by lifting and rotating as needed
The filter just slides on the end of the sending unit tube.
